The Analogis Just 1 alignment gauge is a precision tool designed for accurate cartridge installation and tonearm setup on turntables. Correct measurement and adjustment of cartridge geometry are essential for minimizing tracking error and achieving optimal sound reproduction from vinyl records.
This mirrored alignment protractor allows precise adjustment of the three key parameters of cartridge setup: overhang, offset angle, and azimuth. The large mirrored surface makes it easy to visually confirm that the cartridge body is mounted straight in the headshell, enabling accurate azimuth control in addition to geometric alignment.
Using the Just 1 is straightforward. With the platter stationary, the gauge is placed over the spindle and rotated toward the tonearm. By aligning the stylus tip precisely on measuring points A and B and ensuring the cartridge body remains parallel to the printed guide lines, correct overhang and offset angle can be achieved. Fine adjustments are made using the cartridge slots until alignment is correct at both reference points.
Once properly aligned, the cartridge delivers lower tracking distortion, reduced record and stylus wear, and improved overall playback quality. The refined design of the Just 1 ensures easy handling and fast, repeatable setup, making it suitable for both enthusiasts and technicians.
